Prospective Student Video – Ohio University Geography Department

By Dylan Dyer on Jul 22, 2013

Geared towards prospective students interested in studying geography at Ohio University, this short web video highlights the strengths of the Geography Department and provides an overview of its programs’ offerings. After working closely with current faculty, staff, and students, I was able to design a video that accurately reflected departmental strengths and interests from a variety of viewpoints. I used @Lab equipment to shoot class sessions, faculty advising, research projects, etc. in the department, which I supplemented with stock footage obtained from the Geography Department and Ohio University Communications and Marketing. The video will be editing using @Lab facilities and will be posted to the Geography website in early fall of this year....

Bronzeville Etudes & Riffs

By Philp Mallory Jones on Jul 16, 2013

Bronzeville is an area of the South Side of Chicago. It emerged as a Mecca for the arts, commerce, entertainment and more – replete with all of the attendant human aspirations, ambitions and frailties – as a result of the Great Migration of African Americans from the rural South to cities in the North and West, over a 50 year span of the twentieth century. Add to that Jim Crow Segregation, The Great Depression, The Chicago Renaissance, and World War II and you have the milieu of Bronzeville Etudes & Riffs. Bronzeville Etudes & Riffs is now LIVE on KICKSTARTER! Immersive interactive storytelling set in the Bronzeville neighborhood of Chicago’s South Side, circa 1940, for PC and Mac desktop, laptop and tablet. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/95105404/bronzeville-etudes-and-riffs...

My Life Story: words I didn’t know

By on Jul 11, 2013

My Life Story: wordsididn’tknow is a short stop-motion video that compares my own deployment to Iraq to my grandfather’s time in the service during WWII. The film briefly introduces the farm I grew up on in North Dakota. And describes how after my grandfather would mow the lawn, he would drink ice tea and take off his shirt relieving his shrapnel wounds from fighting in the South Pacific. The film is about my understanding of the war as a child and an adult.
